Questions for about NOMINEE

Remaining quiet is being partisan with the wrong side. As an adviser to politicians, I am very much aware of the mechanisms behind the scenes. I could no longer just listen and remain non-partisan, as if it ok to accept the status quo.

Change must happen now or Malaysia might be on a negative trajectory that will be impossible to change. I want to help prevent that. I want to be able to look at my wife and my children and tell them that I am trying. Most importantly, I want to be able to tell you straight that I am no longer talking theories, but I am working hard to make the change happen.

On the authority of Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]

As the CEO of IDEAS, I led a team that delved into issues affecting people from all walks of life. We came up with evidence-based proposals that helped shape policies of political parties from both sides of the aisle.

I am familiar with the issues that Malaysians face, such as the increasing cost of living, poor governance and worsening interethnic relationships. More importantly, I believe I will bring a breath of fresh air to the way that politics is conducted in Malaysia by supporting policies that are relevant to the rakyat.

PPBM’s main agenda is to defend and return the integrity of our democratic institutions that are being violated by the UMNO-led coalition. We will also defend the special position of the Bumiputera in Malaysia, as enshrined in the Constitution.

However unlike UMNO, the ‘Malay agenda’ will not be pursued with state patronage and corruption. Instead, PPBM will champion a Pakatan Harapan government that is unafraid to use market-based solutions for socio-economic and developmental problems will advance not just the Bumiputera, but all Malaysians. We are only as strong as our weakest link, which is why nobody should be left behind.

It is still too early to think about GE14 or if I will be standing at all. I am new to the party, I am new to politics. My aim is to help the people and when Pakatan Harapan wins, I intend to help PPBM ensure that the pledges in the Buku Harapan are realised.
