Personal thoughts of Wan Saiful Wan Jan

Nik Nazmi

Nik Nazmi is running in the election in Seri Setia.

I may not agree with the leftist call for more subsidies and more freebies. But a stronger democracy is vital for the country to prosper. And for that, we need a stronger opposition.

So, good luck Nazmi!

Bro, I think the issue is not more subsidies or more freebies, but justice..

Just my 20 cent opinion :)

Subsidising the petrol price even more would mean the price is distorted at ALL levels. The richest of Malaysians are the ones owning gas-guzzlers and they will benefit the most. The poorest use only motorcycles. That cannot be justice.

I am not suggesting mean-testing. Just highlighting that the “justice” argument is flawed.

The thing is the poorest life is highly affected by the ‘not so justified’ high oil prices rather than the richest. We should imagine how the oil issues have distracted family issues and life of the weakest Malaysia citizens. I don’t believe in ‘korbankan’ minoriti (in this case rasanya majoriti).

I believe that there’ll be a strategy to ensure justice through subsidising the petrol price. Memberi subsidi petrol tidak berdiri sendiri tetapi disertai dengan mekanisme pengupayaan yang lain :)

At least to put Petronas under Parliament for me is justified since if there’ll be a decision to increase oil price, it’ll be at least a debate on subsidize issue.

    Another 20 cents! :)

    Salam..

I am a newbie here. Came across your blog while bloghopping.

The unsung hero are the middle-incomers, don’t you agree? However, I like what Datuk Shahrizat has said, “The people has spoken..” I think she has responded wisely (at least, to the media) on her defeat at Lembah Pantai. Do check her comments on NST online.

However, I do think that she is the victim of ‘the wave’.

    *sorry, off topic?*

    Wasalam
