Thanks for the article attached.
I have just recently discussed with my lecturer and he suggested me to do my PhD on Edmund Burke. He was an Irish Protestant, member of the British Parliament at the end of the 18th century. He was very critical of Rousseau and came to known as a conservative. But at the end of the 19th century most British liberals considered his ideas most suitable for British democracy.
This should be considered as a part of my future career in becoming a specialist on Occidentalism as has been called here in Malaysia.
What do you think, Wan?

If I remember correctly, Burke was the one who implied that we should place more emphasis on educating manners before regulating. Can’t remember the exact quote. And he was the one who said leaders who believe in higher powers are less likely to become corrupt. Again, apologies because I cannot remember the exact quote. But Abidin blogged about this once (looking at his terminally ill blog, I think, unfortunately, he is a retired blogger)
In any case, I think you should talk to Abidin. He knows much more about this than I do.
