Many today believe that Marx was opposed to the idea of freedom and liberty – the central tenets of liberalism – and somehow believed that state encroachment into individual lives are somewhat legitimate and justified. This is a complete fiction and is largely based upon the confusion of what Marx actually believed with Marxism-Leninism, that is to say Lenin’s interpretation of Marx.
